Thanks Dun for the web site.
I don't think I'm going to go into the Brama Bussiness just for calving ease. I have pretty good luck with my Herefords and use black Angus on my first calf heifers.
My origanal post was just to see if someone had a rule of thumb on timeing.
Any body have a rule of thumb as to when to start helping a heifer calve ?
?? minutes after the water bag shows ?
?? minuutes after feet start showing ?
?? minutes after the calves tounge sticks out (lack of air) ?
Or if she's a heifer "You better get her in and start helping"
I have...
Check your local CO-OP they carry pour-on that will take care of ring worm, lice, grubs, horn worms, etc. etc If you buy a gallon or more they will give you a long handled dipper. Most of it's good for a year or two if you don't let it freeze.
O.K.
I have 13 black baldy heifers Hereford on the bottom side.
I'm looking at 2 bulls one hereford one angus.
both have a EPD of +3 on birth weight
which one do I have to spend next spring staying up all night with?
When buying bulls I always watch their Birth weights then I look at thier Weaning weight.
But this EPD is really confusing.
Are EPD's differant for differant breeds ?
Is there a web site some where explaining how EPD Values are set up and what they mean?
Thanks
