    Deal or no deal?

I'd take a trailer load of cows like her for $450 each. Good deal.

    Replacement Bull Prospect

Thor is scurred. His dam is horned.

    Replacement Bull Prospect

Dam is from Abrakadabra out of Columbia, MO, that's where the Mr. Hereford and P606 comes from. Grand dam is P606 daughter.

    Replacement Bull Prospect

Darth is only around 1700#. He's a grass puppy, was a show bull and will follow you anywhere for a handful of range cubes.

    Replacement Bull Prospect

This is one of our homegrown bull calves. He has P606, Mr. Hereford, and Federal bloodlines, so he's going to have a high CE and be good on heifers (his sire's CE is +7.3). I like his markings and I think he has potential, but looking for opinions. Thanks. Thor is just over 9 months old. 6...

New Potential Genetic Abnormality Designations For Herefords

Here's another scary thing, if you run the MDC report on AHA, it limits out at 2000 entries (meaning there's already more than 2000 carriers). Just for S&G, I ran the MDC report on active 2019 cattle, and there are already 415. How many cattle out there are going to be added as MDPs? This is...

    Small Town Kid, Hereford bull

To me, it's more horrifying than that. AHA press release with photos. Thanks Butch. I should have clarified exactly what you said.

    Small Town Kid, Hereford bull

I'm wrong you're right. I'll shut up now. Goodbye.

    Small Town Kid, Hereford bull

MDF requires both parents to be carriers of the gene, and it appears to have stemmed from the NJW herd. If you don't have NJW genetics in your existing herd, you're probably okay to use the semen.

Max price on a Bull for commercial use

Because he told us he did it. The bull we got from him was a resale, they bought him from a very reputable breeder, and I have genetic evidence he is what his papers say he is, so I'm comfortable with the deal we made. I won't do business with him again though because he did have some other...

Max price on a Bull for commercial use

No, he was bidding against someone else to get the minimum amount he wanted. After the bull basically no-saled, he offered him to us after the sale because we had shown earlier interest. I know he was deceptive in his bidding practice, but it wasn't against us.

Max price on a Bull for commercial use

Exactly. Our bull "sold" to his owner in the ring for $100 more than we paid for him, and we bought him in the parking lot of the sale barn. He still showed as sold for the sale record.

Max price on a Bull for commercial use

Bought this handsome fella (at 2 years old) for $2100, 3 years ago. He was a former show bull so he's halter broke and will follow you anywhere for some range cubes and a good combing. Plan to keep him as long as he keeps passing BSE and have retained a bull prospect out of him.

    Short Marked Hereford?

Gee, thanks. Instead of being offered constructive criticism on what is wrong with my cattle and how i should improve them, I'm just told that they suck in general. Fantastic. Y'all are not very friendly to someone new starting in the cattle business. I'll be going now, and y'all can proceed...

    Short Marked Hereford?

I don't know how to respond to that. Am I being bullied for my cows not being show quality?

    Short Marked Hereford?

Comment removed because apparently my cows are lacking. Thanks Knersie.

    Thanks. Makes sense.

    Short Marked Hereford?

But does it mean they don't have a lot of white, or they do have a lot of white?

    Short Marked Hereford?

Any other "newbies" to cattle who get confused by all the terminology that only the experts and old timers seem to know? Today I'm wondering what "short-marked" means in regard to Herefords. Is it the amount of white they have? :help:
