    Bale trailer

Just point the truck/trailer down hill if you can and block the wheels on the truck. Let gravity help you. Fresh bales are lots easier to load also. If you get too many bales on the back end the trucks rear tires have been known to come off the ground and the truck can roll. I usually put mine...

    m&w hay rakes

I've got the 4565 rake and what I really like about it is if your windrow gets wet, you can pin one side up and just flip the hay over with the other side. Real handy! Like others said once the teeth start breaking you'll go thru a lot of them. Don't go cheap on teeth either, the name brands...

    JD4020

You can change front ends pretty easily on those, the factory front end had weak spots . if your going to put a loader on it, and don't mind it not being factory setup I would put a 4430 front end on it. If I remember right there's only about 4 bolts holding the front end plate, just unbolt...

    Best used tractor

Gosh I can't imagine having a newer tractor like that and get it stuck just backing out of the shed. I'd say you have a couple options, first is make sure you actually have fluid in the tires, and put wheel weights and chains on your existing tractor, or 2nd option is buy an older fwd tractor...

    hay spear for FEL bucket

If I were you I would mount a spear in the corners of the bucket so there's less stress than in the middle of the bucket when lifting. Plus it keeps the bale from rotating if you don't get it centered when stabbing it. Just weld some thick wall pipe right in the corners pointing forward and...

Rake & Bale at same time

It wouldn't work on terrace ground around here, by the time the front tires went over the terrace, the rakes up in the air. When front tires break over the terrace, the rake would nose dive into the ground. Good idea though

    Nh3 applicator HP question

Yes this tractor has fluid in the tires as well as weights on front and the inside of the back tires. I'll only be pulling one tank at a time. Thanks for the advice paw paw.

    Nh3 applicator HP question

It's just a tool bar with electric on/off switch. I am concerned that I won't have the HP to pull it

    Nh3 applicator HP question

How big of tractor would it take to pull a mounted 9 knife anhydrous applicator? I have some hill ground and terraces but I just wonder if my 4020 dualed up would pull it ok. I'm not gonna be running over very many acres with it?

Talk to me about hay equipment

I would think that with a lot of farmers selling cows and plowing up hayfields and pastures, there would be some deals out there on good used hay equipment.

    how big of a trailer

I also agree with snake and smokin, why pay for a bigger trailer and possibly a truck when your truck/trailer can haul em. I guarantee the sale barn has haulers ready to make a buck or two. If your hauling big cows all the time it would be a different story, but just buying calves? Why not save...

Help of a 07 chev front diff, losse bolts torque specs?

A caterpillar mechanic told me a couple months ago that bolt manufacturers are designing bolts with a "one time use" theory. He changed wheels on a new cat loader and threw the old bolts away saying these new bolts once torqued will stretch to certain specs, and if loosened they need to be...

    john deere tractor

That's good to know, I just got a 3010. It's got a block heater but its shorted out, time for a new one.

    cattle chute question

Depends on how often and why you need to squeeze them. If you only have a small herd to vaccinate I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you were a vet clinic that squeezed daily I would want the dual side squeeze. If you were buying a new chute I would get the double, used chute, get whatever...

    Thanks guys!!

Well I gottasay that luck doesn't usually go my way but I went and looked at a John deere 3010 last week. The owner said the clutch is out of it, and was offering it at a he!! Of a discount. Come to find out the clutch was rusted to the flywheel and it wouldn't go in gear. Upon searching cattle...

Farm truck, cracked head gasket I think

If you just changed the radiator it could have air in the water pump and not pumping any water. If it got that hot it could have cracked head now though. I've seen water pumps "vapor lock" when there's air in the system.

    Rear Tractor Tire Width

My baling tractor is set wider than the pickup on the baler. My mowing tractor is set on 30in row width since its my planting tractor also. On steep hills I would widen it out more but it's about right for the disk mower. Your loader tractor should be set wide as to prevent the chance of rollover.

To shed or not to shed ?????????

With a tractor that small you could put 4 posts in the ground and put a tin roof over it real cheap. Don't need sides or doors just a roof would help. It wouldn't cost much more to tin three sides and leave the front open.

What to look at when purchasing used round balers

I agree with hillrancher as well. I would also stay clear away from the 510, they are touchy starting a bale and there's better balers around of the same era. What dealers are close by? Are they good with balers? Lots of questions unknown here but new holland were decent. I run a 535 as well...
