I like listening to that word. That and “aluminum”.

    The End of EPDs?

My biggest problem lately is if a bull gets old enough to prove himself and I decide to pull the trigger he invariably goes off the market with semen impossible to find.

    Semi Load Out Chute

We have a portable chute for loading semis. Just set it up in front of the loading chutes if needed so we don’t need extra space for a permanent one.

    Bull shopping

I’m suffering a case of information overload these days. Used to select on phenotype alone, maybe you knew the birthweight and could trust the word of the breeder about calving ease. Now we have genomics, EPDs, and scanning results as well as individual performance. I’m not complaining, I’m an...

Post a pic of your bull

https://www.cattletoday.com/threads/scrotal-size.59386/ Old thread that hashed over the scrotal length and udder attachment debate. I don’t think a normal shaped scrotum should see a circumference difference based on length. A wedge shaped one will affect testicular size. I can see where too...

    Craigslist cattle

I saw on a different post (same bull) it's Angus/Dexter. I don't buy that combo. The best part is the ball pic in the thumbnails.

    Belgian blue cattle

I’ve seen that you raise your calves to slaughter. What are your inputs to get them to that size?

    New bull time

Very common in some breeds to keep the name on the maternal line. Some go back decades. To answer your other question the America bull that is listed as the paternal grand sire is the one all the fuss was made about. Seems like he faded out of the limelight pretty quick, which is what happens...

    Red Charolais

Doll ranch in North Dakota has been raising them for awhile. Years back there was one in AI I think Genex? Always thought it would be a great cross in areas that discount smokes.

    Tetanus

Theoretically if the dams were well immunized against tetanus there would be a good chance of colostral protection for banding baby calves?

    Calves

Will work fine, just stick with the original plan of boosters in 3-4 weeks and again in October.

Poor girl. There’s not much left of her after all that.

    Tetanus

Start over. Tetanus vaccine is cheap. If the booster is given greater than 6 weeks after the first dose you lose a lot of antibody response.

    COOL passed?

5% of GDP but 100% have to eat. It is not smart to contract out your food security to other nations but many are in the name of greenhouse gas reduction.

Mexico needs to worry about it’s image problem.

Heifer killed old cows new calf

Cattle in heat are a danger as they are only paying attention to their hormones. Youngstock can be as well; I saw a new calf get pretty mauled when it slipped into a pen of Holstein heifers. Bunch of curious teenage bullies. Keep them separated if you can.
