    FINAL CIDR UPDATE

She had a vaginal infection and a CL, not a uterine infection and cystic.

    FINAL CIDR UPDATE

I don't think it's immaculate conception when the bull breeds them. It's called reproduction.

    Timed AI and Short Cycle

25% pregnant? Most healthy cows on newer protocols with TAI should produce conception rates around 60%.

CIDR LEFT IN HEIFER FOR 5 MONTHS

When you gave the shot of Gnrh the cyst should have ruptured and I "think" the cow would show standing heat signs. I remember embryologists years ago rupturing cysts manually and I think the cows would be in heat the next day or two. Either way, take the cow back. Get your money back and be done...

    CIDR update

Your man on the scene said she cycled every week. Several people that have worked for you in the cows reproductive tract can't even find a cidr, much less a pregnancy. LEAVE THE COW ALONE. Don't induce. You're going to have her so messed up that a magician can't get her bred. She's very likely...

CIDR LEFT IN HEIFER FOR 5 MONTHS

It's been more than a week. Did the bull breed her?

CIDR LEFT IN HEIFER FOR 5 MONTHS

Sounds more than fair. I'd be curious to hear the breeding date when your bull breeds the heifer and if he continues to breed her weekly or if she never comes in heat, etc.

CIDR LEFT IN HEIFER FOR 5 MONTHS

If you're sure she's cystic, there's no doubt I'd send her back. I personally wouldn't embarrass myself by sending a pregnant heifer back...but if you're sure, then I'd send her back. The owner might want another vet to palpate her ovaries and verify in writing that the cow is cystic. I would.

CIDR LEFT IN HEIFER FOR 5 MONTHS

I don't know what day in october and what day in november but it's real common to mis-diagnose early pregnant as opens expecially earlier than 35-40 days pregnant.

CIDR LEFT IN HEIFER FOR 5 MONTHS

Which is it? If she's not cycling, I'd say she's pregnant. If she's cycling weekly, she's cystic. If your farm man says she's not dropping an egg, he needs to be paid more than he's probably making. No one can tell if they let an egg down from external observation. Your bull bred her in october...

CIDR LEFT IN HEIFER FOR 5 MONTHS

She's likely pregnant to your bull. I'd have her checked again.

CIDR LEFT IN HEIFER FOR 5 MONTHS

For positive diagnosis vets should assume cattle are pregnant and palpate to prove pregnancy, upon not finding signs of viable pregnancy, they should reverse course and prove to the best of their ability that the cow is open. When there is no signs of pregnancy, they should palpate the cervix...

Little Difference Between Breeds in Growth

Can someone please tell me if in 5 pages of epd discussion has anyone mentioned that across breed epd adjustments have nothing to do with actual pounds in difference between the breeds? I can't bear to read it all.

    AI'ing heifers (cervix)

Hoss the rectal tract of a heifer is much smaller than cows. I feel like that's what you're having a problem working around. If you find you can't pick up a cervix, reach past the cervix's typical location and find the next sphincter of the rectal tract and gently with your fingers reach through...
