    The End of EPDs?

I believe in known genetics and knowing the sire and dam more than I do low accuracy fabricated numbers. I recently bought a polled Hereford bull to use to make black baldie replacements. He has 2 crosses to UPS Domino 3027 in his pedigree. IMO 3037 is one of the proven cow makers that have...

    The End of EPDs?

As a commercial breeder we have learned the hard way to not put any merit in an low accuracy EPD. I start looking if they are 60% or above and put merit in them when they are 80% or above. We ask for actual numbers. We use them, visual appraisal and progeny data from the sire and dam’s progeny...

Suggestions on Angus bull to use ?

Interested in what sire you went with? Not seeing your heifer or knowing you’re goals hard too give good advice on what you should use. Some of the Growth Fund genetics have worked well here. We are using a Connealy Confidence son as walking sire on them. Will use Jet Black and Musgrave...

    Timed AI most recent trends?

I thought about learning how. I’m 71 and even if I learned how our facilities are still 20 miles from the house.

    Timed AI most recent trends?

Times AI is the only option for many of us if we want to AI. If you have the time and the cattle are close then standing heat is an option. When you’re cattle and facilities are 20 miles away and you’re AI tech 90 miles it isn’t an option

    2024 Maternal Gems Sale

Great set of cows and heifers. F76 is impressive. Wish it wasn’t so far too western Oklahoma. You have a true breeding program. Our results with SAV genetics has been mixed.

    Close to $2.00 killer bulls

Bulls were off $10.00 dollars this week. Still high. They were $1.60- $1,79. Not as drastic as I had heard. Still good money.

    Close to $2.00 killer bulls

What class are you talking about. In this area cows and bulls were up. 8 weight ms up off 6-8 dollars and lighter calves 3-4 dollars. The board went down as some say due to a convenient crisis. One reason I don’t have any confidence in the market. Too many outside factors have an influence on...

    DB Iconic

Thanks for the pictures. We are going to AI our replacements and only a few mature cows. Will likely leave the Iconic in my tank this year. Going too use Jet Black on many of the replacements. Been told he crosses well on the Growth Fund influence

    Close to $2.00 killer bulls

And make you consider some you hadn’t planned. Have a 4 y/o and a 5 y/o that I had planned too keep at least another year. Will likely sell both if I can find one reasonable replacement. Figure both should bring over 3 thousand. Not willing too pay more than the 2 will bring. The other option is...

Be interested how he develops. Drag Iron didn’t work in our herd.

    Here he is

Not sure if it will be good or bad. I had a GAR bull that looked like a brother. He ended up on a bun at McDonalds.

    Slaughter cows and bulls.

Did you watch the bull sale at the start of the Beaver, OK cow sale Wednesday? One brought $11,000.00. Way higher than before.

    We did it

Your experience is different than that of a few others I know who tried Waygu. It didn’t work for them and they have moved on. I could see if you have only ate grass fed where you might be impressed with it. We feed ours out on corn. The best steaks and hamburger anywhere.

    Slaughter cows and bulls.

Kenny know a killer cow weighed 1,600 lbs and brought a $1.59 Tuesday. Bulls were mid to upper $1.70’s. We plan too sell 2 big bulls and several cows in the next 30-45 days. Since the culling for the drought 2 years ago what is going now are mainly good productive bulls and cows. Not really culls.

    Feeder futures

We have very few issues with heifers. Where we run ours on wheat after weaning till we breed them a neighbor will put bulls next to them never had any issue. Another neighbor does run his yearling bulls across the road from the heifers. Never an issue. Two fences abs a dirt road separate them...

    New bull time

Murray if you want baldies I would stick with the Angus/Hereford Baldy. Here they top the market. I get asked if our baldies are the Hereford/Angus cross. They bring more dollars than our straight Angus. There is a good demand for the baldy heifers as replacements. Many only want baldy heifers...
