    Does anybody like Husqvarna?

It took me several chainsaws to figure this out, but the professional grade saws are pretty much good to go whether Stihl, Husky, or even Echo. Sometimes you do get what you pay for.

    Ag Demonstration

My daughter in law is an Ag teacher at a smaller rural school district. She has a FFA group that goes to various contests doing demos or speeches about something ag related. They're doing a chainsaw tune up how to now. Things like differences in 2cycle vs 4cycle engines, gapping spark plugs and...

    Its not Anecdotal

I agree with you. It seems we go from one drug crisis to another. It's been crack, heroin, meth, bath salts, synthetic marijuana, and now it's prescription opioids. Folks seem to flock to whatever is the easiest to get. Legalize them all and let the problem take care of itself.

    Grubbing mesquites

I'm surprised you have mesquites and not cedars in Fredricksburg. If the mesquites are only 5" in diameter max, I would use a skidsteer and a shear. Like Brute said, pluck the ones you can so the taproot doesn't stay in the ground. I rented a skidsteer and did a bunch of land myself. I later...

X'ed Firestone off the do business with list

I'm with sky too. I don't think I've ever had to show my ID with a debit card purchase where I typed in my PIN. That seems pretty stupid to me and I would take my business elsewhere. I totally understand ID with credit card, makes sense, not a debit card. I'm not showing ID if I'm buying tires...

    Truck Brand

100% agree about the 6.0 LS Chevy engine. Had a 2006 2500 with over 285k miles on it. The transfer case sucked on that truck, but that engine was dead nuts reliable. Just traded that truck for a 2017 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins. I hope the new truck lasts like the old one.

average cost of skid steer mulcher rental with operator?

He's giving you a really good deal! I am not far from you. I'm between LaVernia and Seguin. Last winter I paid $180hr for a guy to clear and mulch some very overgrown fence lines. I'm talking about the largest hi flow skid steer and rotating mulcher with carbide teeth, not one of those much...

Growth ain't what it's cracked up to be

I'm near Seguin. The growth around me is staggering. Traffic is the biggest issue I see. It's getting close to gridlock. Lot's of the new folks are from California, some from Arizona, and some from Illinois. There are also tons of hispanics buying little 2.5 - 5 acre tracts. It won't be long...

    Want to build a Barndominium

The main reason folks build them in my county is the taxes. Bando's get tallied as ag buildings, no more 1 acre taxed at the county residential rate. Pretty good reason even if they cost the same as a house.

    Kudos to whoever

Do you mix the brake fluid\acetone at a 50\50 mix? I am trying to get the inner wheel separated from the rim on my old 8N. Pb, liquid wrench, heating the hell out it, and my tears aren't working

    Business professionals and LinkedIn

Your Linkedin profile is basically an online resume. Schooling info, skills, that type of thing. You control what goes into the profile. The cool feature is your connections can endorse your skills. It's one thing to say you have PLC programming skills and another to say it and have 15 other...

    Thanks to Hillsdown

He'll be easy to spot, he's gonna have a 12ft long unicorn covered pipe in his mouth. :D Jo, this is the funniest thing I've read in a long time. Be sure and post back how many folks are there partaking. My youngest kid graduates high school this year and I may sell my place and move to CO...

I think the police are REAL nervous

I personally think our society is a bit over-policed. I also think as cameras become more and more common we'll see more and more of these "isolated incidents". And, as already mentioned, the police are becoming more militarized. One example is the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle give...

    Hobby Farmer or not ?

I always think of a hobby farmer\rancher as someone (like me) that doesn't rely on farming\ranching as their primary source of income. That definition addresses your other questions. I personally don't find the term offensive but I typically don't care what most people think of me. When it...

    Brangus bull semen choices (Videos)

BCG, can you please let us know which bull you end up using? I am shopping for next year's sire(s) for my brangus girls. FWIW, I really like the second bull. He's wide and square on his feet.

    Establishing Grass on While Clearing

Are you clearing trees and brush or just trying to improve your pasture? I recently cleared 22 acres of mesquite, hackberry, shin oak, giant ragweed, prickly pear, jumping cactus, and every dang kind of thorny brush known to man. It was a nightmare and something that's going on my "I'm never...
