Haven't heard much on prices down here, but sold a 270 pound charlois colored bull calf and got $2.95 per pound, on Monday. Almost fainted. I've been hearing that this is the year to sell around 300 lbs. Looks like I'll be selling all calves around August instead of the end of September.

If the trees are too big to pull over with a tractor, drill a hole in it at a 45 degree angle and fill the hole with Grazon. Might have to do a couple of holes on opposite sides of the tree. It will be dead in a year or less and will either fall over or be easy to push over.

Grazon Next H\L will kill dewberries. I have tried a lot of sprays to kill dewberries and the H\L does it. 3 quarts to 100 gal. of water and the berry vines are dead. Looks like it might kill McCartney Rose also. I use P&D for the rose though but it looks like the H\L will kill it also.

Once it gets tall and seeds out my cows wont touch it. I start putting hay out in the winter when the cattle start eating the tops off the smutgrass. I know the grass is about gone. I've never tested it but I hear it has no nutritional value.

I use a pear burner. Its for burning the stickers off of cactus. Might not have them up your way but u might can order one. Ive started many a fire with one. All u need is a gallon propane tank and a lighter.

I use 1 qt. to 20 gallons of water and either spot spray it or boom spray it, at 5-7 mph. Don't know how many gallons per acre it is, it's just what has worked for me.

I sprayed goat weed on Monday the 7th and it is shriveled up and dying right now. Some of it looked ready to drop its seed, so I wanted to kill it before it dropped. Goat weed is easy to kill and 2-4-d will kill it now easily. You don't want to mow it and spread the seed everywhere.

I mixed my lime and bahaia seed together last spring and put it all out together with good results despite the drought.

I put out 30% protein tubs when I start haying. When they start leaving hay alone and are on grass, I stop the tubs as well.
