    Fiberglass Rods

Kencove has them. I believe you can get them cut to custom length. If you are ordering enough to make shipping justifiable.

    Semi Load Out Chute

I made one out of guardrail and the 4x6 galvanized I beams. Used white oak boards for ramp. Only two pictures I have in my phone. I think I had less than $500 in it and a couple days of work. Has got the job done. 2nd photo was in the process of building and it’s braced up a lot more and put...

Grain bin panels for a tub

Yes I have two trampoline springs on tub gate latch. One above and one below.

Grain bin panels for a tub

Here are some more pictures I took. I bought all the tubing. Had less than a hundred dollars in gate/alley panels I made. Rest of stuff I used came from a few guys scrap piles. I let the grain bin panels overlap where gate stops are on the tub. Put some 3/4 round bar around the top on grain bin...

Grain bin panels for a tub

Yes. I extended the gate post on up and put braces out to the exterior post. It has really been tested several times (more cows put in than should be) and has held up great. Panels are tougher than you’d think. Gate post is roughly 4 inch pipe and found pipe that fit pretty tight over it for...

Grain bin panels for a tub

I made one a couple years ago out of a grain bin. Works great. Also straightened some of the pieces out and used them as kick panels on panels I made out of 1 1/2 square tubing. This is best photo I have while in process of making it. Can try to take a few more if interested. I set center post...

    2019 Fertilizer Applications ?

Hmmmm… K31 Feeds my cows through the winter without starting a piece of machinery. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

    corn price effect on beef

Possibly some bred cows to bale graze on some recently cleared land this winter. Unless we turn really dry the next couple of months I shouldn't have to much hay if any at all to my herd. The boat is too expensive to be sitting there not used. Haven't used it much at all the last 3 years...

    Livestock Water Opinions

10-4. A lot depends on the lay of the land. One of my tanks does about 30 acres, one around 60, and the other waters about 85 acres. I have fields that vary in size from 6-15 acres divided by one strand electric, and divide up by polywire as needed from there.

    Livestock Water Opinions

Is there not a way to let one water station cover 2-3 fields? I put in tire 3 tire tanks a few years ago. They all water 4-6 fields.

    Grass on new land

I believe I can live with the sticks for a couple years for what that probably cost. I have a good many left around where they loaded the trees out, even after dozer with root rake. Wish I would have got a crew with a chipper. I have about a 1/2 acre worth of stumps to go on my clearing...

    Big Cow Gross Margin ?

Or another way to look at it is if you were stocked to keep cows on grass year round equipment cost would be minimal. I see it around here. A lot of them say they don't make any money. They cut hay all summer and feed all winter. I'm trying to make a living with cattle. Every time I sell...

    Grass on new land

My fields I would guess average 50% fescue, some areas more probably 70% and some 30%. Other grasses are Bermuda, Bahia, Johnson grass, Dallis grass, some crab grass, I think I found out some is called KR blue stem (wish I could get rid of it) and a few others I'm not so sure about. Some...

    Grass on new land

Cotton1- I'm in the northern part of McCormick county but still not too far. Everyone asks me how the cow business in doing and I tell them that the price drop hurt but the drought is a continuous kick in the stomach. Looking back I wish I had destocked some in the early summer, kept waiting...

    Grass on new land

I understand that but I'm either imputing labor or $$$ into the farm. I want all that to be as low as possible. Yes, I've been toying with the idea of buying some calves from local farmers/sale barns. I would precondition them and then make load lots with them. If they will pay for...

    Grass on new land

That's why I wouldn't want to plant a field with it from my experience with it. Unless you are in the need of more summer grass. I'm assuming what we have in areas is the Pensacola variety. It does well in the summer but cows will not hardly touch it after a frost. My rest periods are...

    Grass on new land

I haven't. Too many variables. 2014 calf prices vs. 2016? 2014 grass production vs. 2016? I can tell you 2014 was a lot better year  . I want to be a low input producer. I'm sure that some years with a higher stocking rate and bringing in more outside feed it would pencil out to my...
