    ENDOPHYTE

To be honest, you never know if your MaxQ gets invaded by KY 31. Often they establish a plot and test to only find years later its been invaded. Its easier to work with what you got and learn how to use it.

i hate this tree with a passion, HONEY LOCUSTS SOLUTION

But they must not be eating the seedlings before they are problems. Big difference!! Sheep I've seen ate them and then didn't see them come back till a new crop next year. Different strokes for different folks. Different climates = different problems.

i hate this tree with a passion, HONEY LOCUSTS SOLUTION

Do the cows not eat the pods? There actual been research using them in pasture setting to provide extra feed as pods and shade for the cattle. I've seen sheep eat the pods like candy and their seedlings. Turn them lose in new pasture and first thing they would go for was the honey locust...

Kenny is right!! At least wait till fall to plant your fescue!! You can get a good stand maybe planted around Oct then it will over winter and be ready for grazing. Usually fall plantings will make for a stronger stand. If you keep the serica around 6 inches it will be good for grazing as the...

    Lespedeza outcomes

My job focuses on reclaimation of surface mine lands and typically find that one must work with the serica if grazing. Keep it managed in vegetation state as makes it more palatable to the cattle. Mainly roating cattle and do as you say mow if needed. With surface mined ground just no way...

    Am I The Only One?

Sometimes people just like to fuss. My husband is one just the way he is and I do my best to ignore it. Maybe she is just critical like him. Granted I'll tell you that no offense to my gender, but most females don't know their own mind. So there is usually not simple answers when it comes to...

    Dung Beetles From KT (pics)

Sent an email to graduate student studying dung beetles at Virginia Tech. She says it is called Dichotomous carolinus and native to North America. Referred me to http://bugguide.net/node/view/17255 Told me to be on the look for a rainbow scarab. Said I would know it if I saw it.

    CONTRACT WEED SPRAYING

I would say depends on how often you want to spray and see it as an investiment or a one time thing. Granted we always have weeds to spary at least around here we do. Yeah I'm pretty sure that Crossbow and Cimarron are not restricted use pesticides. Usually the EPA determines that, but can...

Cheat grass control -- Wash. State ???

I've always known cheatgrass as downy brome. Its an annual, so mechanical control should be a good option if you don't want to spray just keep it from going to seedhead. Since its an annual probably a preemergenct herbicide would help like maybe Treflan. Just some thoughts, but check with...

Pearl Millet: to graze or not?

Have you thought about sending off a forage sample just to be sure? I mean thats not much nitrogen on it (34 lbs if you didn't lose any), but maybe better safe then sorry. Your state may have a testing lab at Clemson or you can send it to Cumberland, MD to Cumberland Labs.

    What to plant

Multipastures good, but multipastures with different forages (well planned/thought out forages that will grow in your area, fit your needs, and thrive) even better!!!

    What to plant

Didn't mean to post twice!! It didn't go up the first time, so I did it again. Proud to be from Lee County, Virginia (Where Virginia Begins). I think I've been around you once or twice Kenny at cattle market or something.

    What to plant

I'm in Virginia, so I'm just going to give you a few things to think about. Forages isn't a one size fits all across the country thing. You real need to examine your situation. What kind of grazing system are you using or wanting to use? Roational grazing? What is the area you are wanting to...
