Anyone got a Polaris 570 Fullsize ranger?

I have a 570 full size and I have the plexiglass rear glass behind the seat. Really like it for the cooler weather/rainy days and if you are using buckets for feed you don’t get covered up with feed dust

Max price on a Bull for commercial use

I personally don’t like cattle auctions.... All sales here are private treaty, a good chance to meet with cattle folks and to hear what their needs when searching for a bull. No pressure sales which I like and no knee jerk decisions made by potential customers. Sure there are times when you...

    Bulk feed bins

I have two 6.5 ton poly dome bins. just last week added the second one, First one installed seven years ago.... still looks like new. I have had the galvanized bins and they sweat in the summer months and corrode with the mineral packs that are in some feeds. Feed flows easily from the top to...

    Raising your own bulls

In-breeding and line-breeding are somewhat the same. You call it line-breeding when it works ----- you call it in-breeding when it's a flop. In-breeding is much closer breeding than line-breeding. A true well planned line-breeding program works. If it flops it is due to genetics not suitable to...

    Raising your own bulls

My experience in running a true closed herd is that you need to have numbers (as in cattle not EPD’s) to make it work. I currently breed 225-250 females annually. My herd has been closed to outside females since 1987 and the last bull was in 2003. All were of the same blood line but different...

    Vermeer 505I

Commenting on the electric tie on the Vermeer rollers, I ran a 605 Super J for nineteen years with no issues with the electric tie actuator. Just need to keep the blades sharp that cut the twine when finishing the tieing process

    Dovetail Trailer Tires

I put a set of 14 ply Hercules on my 25' dual tandem using the same rims that the cheap original tires came with. Nothing but trouble with the cheap tires.

    South Poll vs Beefmaster

Don't know what your cow herd base is but a slick haired, southern bred Victor Domino Polled Hereford bull from a herd developed on fescue pastures for decades will work for heat tolerance and the fescue issues.

Lost the chance to get an answer on Roy Beebe's rules

I ran a large group of Red Angus cows for about ten years, a lot of these cattle had a high percentage of Roy Beebe breeding. I don't recall from the pedigrees I had back then that there were a lot of real close breeding. Not to say he didn't do some. I purposely don't breed no closer than half...

Lost the chance to get an answer on Roy Beebe's rules

A good list to follow for sure to improve the fertility/efficiency of a herd of cattle. Nothing wrong with #4 in selecting herd sires just as long as it doesn't lead to undesireable long term change in your cattle. In my case I would be leary of frame creep if one always selected the highest...
