    Santa gert x Brahman bull

What would be your plan with the calves? Between those two, I would go with the Gert since it would add a little less ear and leather to your calves than the Brahman/Gert one. Have you considered other breed bulls like Angus, Hereford, or Charolais? I always heard Charolais and Herefords crossed...

    Beef-master x F1-Brahma cross

I guess it would depend on your goal. You would still get some nice heifers out of that cross, but the steers would take a pretty big hit. If I had those heifers I would put a good Angus or homo polled homo black Simmental Bull on them. The calves would be 1/4 Brahman, so the heifers would still...

Welcome from Tennessee! Where are you located?

    Goat

You’ll think it’s starting to thunder one day and it will just be her pooping and peeing on the roof overhead. lol. I would make sure you don’t have any exposed wires she can get to. Goats get bored and curious, and will nibble on lots of stuff. I’ve had em chew up tractor and trailer wiring...

    Goat

Are you planning to keep her around for a pet, or want more babies out of her down the road? If you’re just keeping her for a pet, I’d get another cheap nanny or a wether to keep with her that way you wouldn’t have the stink and aggravation that comes with a billy. Billies can make some awful...

    Clover Galore

Nice looking grass. That will make for some happy cows. You will have to make sure and not stand too close behind them for a while once you turn them in on that. Ha ha

    Gyr Cattle

Welcome to the forum @Amy H . Thank you for sharing. That’s a very famous herd in the breed. It’s neat to see breed history like that. I’ve always enjoyed the looks and personality of Gyr cattle.

    Today's Adventure

Nice save! That calf was meant to live with the way that timing worked out for you to be there. A few minutes difference, and you would have never known what happened to it. Sounds like a heck of a day for you. Hope he takes you out for supper after your river and cow fighting adventure.

    Always one

Sorry to hear that. That’s always a worry. I hope you can locate a good calf to put on her.

    Navel dip

Good idea. That’s a good size. Looks a lot more durable than the solo cup I usually use too. Lol

Did ya ever sell a place then go back and look at it a few years later and think...

Sad to see that after all you put into it. Things can take so much time and work to build up right, then get undone and rundown in no time. Like taking the time to put up a nice fence just to have a a bull tear through it in a matter of seconds and leave you with the aftermath.

    Production sale

Since you are going to run Jake’s cattle down once again, I think you should post some pictures of yours so we will know what some real money makers look like. We might learn something.

Post a pic of your bull

He’s a good looking bull. Hopefully he will give you some nice calves. It’s always exciting when those first calves are coming out of a new bull.

I’m like those Brahman girls and don’t like the cold, wet weather.

    Post a random picture

This girl had her calf on a perfect day before we got several inches of rain and cooler temperatures. They usually hold out for the bad weather to get here to have them in, so I was proud of her. In the picture she looks like she’s snorting and giving the stink eye for us to stay back, but she’s...

    I see train wreck coming

I'm glad to hear that they are doing ok so far, and he is coming by to check on them. That doesn’t sound like many feeders for the number he is feeding, but I guess if they have some stockpile to eat as well they aren’t all piling in at once, maybe. I bet it was really expensive, but I'm glad he...

    2013 Kubota M7040 value

Sounds like that tractor has quite a few things against it. I’d say that’s why it’s been on their lot for so long. It sounds like you’re got a good tractor right now, and might save yourself lots of potential headaches to wait for another tractor to trade for to come along. 7040 and 7060s come...
