New ( to me) use for Corriente Cattle

@Warren Allison I think some of those wagyu bull programs pre-contract at a premium for calves no matter what cows they come out of to fill thier nation-wide demand for marketing-program-beef. Surprising he is willing to pay "fancy beef" prices for corriente cows. Maybe he knows/thinks the...

    Weaned fall calves

Around here there is a shortage of grazing calves. Prices are holding real steady. Come fall, I think there's gonna be another jump. And the bigger calves that have grazed all summer are going to be worth a lot as well.

    Feet

Was looking at our 5 year old bull’s feet the other day. I’ll admit I’m not an expert, and am learning about feet and legs the hard way but his claw shape look pretty good to me. Never been trimmed. They would be sold by pound instead being trimmed.

    Milking a hereford for profit?

The key word in your question is for profit. I doubt you will get a hereford to give enough milk to be profitable

I doubt that calf is double muscled. We used (and raised) Blonde d’Aquitaine bulls for years. Our cows were perfectly capable of having them, just as easily as from Simmental.

Double muscle is discriminated against because USDA grading rejects DM carcasses.

    First time haying

There is a sweet medium for baling hay. Molded hay usually started molding before it was baled. Mold spores don't penetrate hay bales and find the middle of the bale to sprout, they need oxygen and moisture to survive. Heavy or thick hay needs to be turned over for it to dry. It can be dry on...

    Weaned fall calves

September and October calves, Most of these are by our BWF bull, The rwf is out of a Beefmaster x Hereford cow. The little dinky heifer is out of a SimAngus heifer and a smaller black bull I had. The other SimAngus heifer had a good calf by the same bull. Hoping the market holds up for another...

That’s how it’s done here. But we cut coastal grass bale in 2 to 3 days after cutting may be different there

    Hello from Deep East Texas

Another day working in the yard. Took some cubes to the girls this morning. Ran a string trimmer for several hours…hot & humid. Have to get the daughter married off this weekend. Then back to trees, fences, and a little more spraying. May try to gather the cows again to vaccinate & ralgro...

Yes he can ! Only problem he might have if 3-4 bulled on the same day . Might not have enough bullets to go around. Lol
