    Milk Replacer with Soy Protein

Calves do not assimilate the protein from soy near as well as from milk... that said, after a calf gets up to 4 weeks or so, you can use it as part of their bottle, introducing it by a small amount to replace the other... and they will do fine. I would never mix it more than 1/3 to 2/3 all milk...

When you pinch it off by hand, you have to "break the suction/seal" around the teat also... so the inflation releases. Needle nose type vice grips...

Milking 2 and 2 may make her not let down her milk as well, so watch for mastitis. I realize that we hand milk 2 and 2... but the oxytocin in their system releases all the milk at once... so the milk will leak from the teats.... Still milking 2 and 2 and her being more cooperative is an...

If you are going to get them to have "just in case" get the long. The short won't stick in the teat more than 1/4 inch... they are made to not go up into the milk canal... just to get in the end of the teat to put mastitis medicine or something like that in there. They won't do you a bit of...

    First time haying

@chaded ; You try to make the hay as good as possible, and then they will go and eat stuff that you think belongs dumped in a ditch as a water stopper.... yep, go figure... We are having warm dry sun today and no humidity... Great for drying. Have seen several fields down... so more than...

Most of my farms have some sort of electronic identifier... neck strap with the electronic monitor, small electronic ear tag that transmit to a receiver... ankle strap (bracelet) that records the cow when she is standing in the parlor with her leg near the receiver ...transmits to a receiver so...

I have used and still have the stainless milk tubes. It is not draconian, and does not cause mastitis if used and cleaned properly. It actually slides into the teat and milk canal more smoothly, the offset holes on the sides will actually let larger chunks of mastitis to pass through... Not...

Son cut our first time this year.... I will tedd it out this afternoon/eve... and again tomorrow and rake on Wed. We roll nearly all first cutting, and still want it good and dry to not lose it to mold... and to prevent any chance of it heating and catching fire...

If the teat inflations fit on lid panel on the belly milker then I am not sure if it would work. Before they went to pipelines, like @puzzled in oregon mentioned.. everyone used a "floor milker" which was a stainless milker sortof like the belly milker, but it was an actual pail, with the...

    Young heifer bred

Don't feed her any grain or extra until she calves so the calf doesn't do a late trimester growth spurt/weight gain...... Sounds like a family of cows I have... they all seem to start to come in heat young and calve young if we aren't real careful to get the bull out before they should even...

    KY banning hunting of hogs

I think that @Caustic Burno has a trap and he gets 10 or more at a time in it... I think he said once he had to kill 100 a year to just keep the population stable... they reproduce so fast.

That's great... she will get it and sure, the sooner the better for you... and in the future, you may need to just put the rope around her and not cinch it up tight... just a "reminder" used to have one on one of the dairies I milked on... just laid the rope over her back... she was fine... no...

The ones that @Double R Ranch referenced are the ones I use also... the long ones as the others are meant to use with a syringe of sorts to infuse something into the udder...
