Strangest thing you've hit in a hayfield.

Will is out there with the swather right now. Maybe I better go check on him. The last two years he got too close to a spring and I had to go pull him out with a tractor.

Not me baling but when I was a teenager we hauled hay for everyone . We were hauling square bales and we were accustomed to finding a snake baled up . But this one bale had a yellow cats tail coming out the end ! It was perfectly centered and almost looked like the bale had a tail . 😳 We talked about cutting the strings and seeing if the cat was in it but never did . Before cell phones so no pics . 🤪

This time of year we were square baling straw , riding the rack behind the baler and we baled a LIVE skunk! It was pissed and we smelled like it

OK, well I don't know if this tops the bull with the hydraulic press, but I found three large totes (like contractor large totes) full of triple bagged, vacuum packed marijuana about 10 years ago. I was cutting alongside of a creek on some CRP ground I rent, and they were hidden in the brush there. I called the sheriff, and they came and took all the goods, left the totes there empty with the deputy's business card inside. I told 'em they ought to put a trail cam out there... somebody's bound to be coming back for it. They thought that was a great idea, so they did put one there. Came and took it away again within a couple weeks... said they only had three trail cams for the whole county sheriff's department... couldn't afford any more! 😲 Anyway, they never did catch anybody over it, but at the time, it was the largest drug stash they'd ever confiscated in Olmsted County.

When dad lived in Nebraska they would kick every bale over before they picked up to make sure there was not a snake baled up in it.

I put a whitetail fawn through an old style hay bine about 40 years ago (it was alive when it went in). If that doesn't make you feel sick you've got a pretty strong stomach.
I have done that; didn't know it until later when I was picking up the hay. I got a racoon once as well.

I've killed as many as 12-15 like that per year. Hay was so thin this year, I only know of 1 that I'm positive that went thru the discbine. A couple other does were hanging around, but I never saw any carcass. There's a bald eagle that will follow me from field to field in the spring and carry off the whole fawn, he's been doing it for about 5 years now.

Neighbor puts Christmas decorations in part of my hay field.
We have an agreement. He gets to put them up in exchange for not sending me a Christmas card.

I picked up a nice heavy gauge extension cord off the side of a bale.
He was happy to get it back.
