Think she will make milk?

Nothing like a lil dab of rain to show true condition. I think Dapples is in better shape than Bessie. Now that they are all dried up I'll start feeding a bit. Grass nutrition is going away here. I want em better going into winter.

Here's Bessies own heifer calf. Pretty good calf for what she is! PeeWee sired.

Bessie is showing her true Jersey heritage... she is a DAIRY animal.... still, she looks good . Our grass has lost most all it's nutrition due to the drought... there is no good grass, and on stockpiled places, it is brown and dried up mostly.
My jersey calved, had a black 1/2 angus heifer.. got them in the barn... started looking for a calf to go on her, she went down with milk fever, vet out... vet out next day again... lost her the following day... Had a 1/2 holstein 1/2 angus heifer calve... she was a graft on a cow a couple years ago... had her calf within 24 hours... so..... Got her in the barn with her calf... got Betsy's calf to go on her... feeding a bottle and then letting her nurse the cow.... was graining her a bit so she would take both... she never raised a fuss...put her out during the day and in at night with the calves for 3 days..... but then she got a board pushed off the fence ( it's old) and the calves got out with her... Betsy's calf would try the bottle out in the field.. 2-3 sucks and then look at me like "REALLY".... and go back to the cow. She is also stealing off at least one other heifer... so... she is getting raised that way. Now she won't even do more than mouth the nipple for a minute...
God Bless 319, the 1/2 hol 1/2 ang 1st calf heifer... she has a home here as long as she gets pregnant for taking this calf so easily... and raising them like twins...
With the drought conditions.. we are in D2, moderate drought... I am using protein tubs for them to supplement the non-existent pasture and hay...... they are keeping pretty good condition considering... I want them to breed back in November so need them to not get too poor from the less than fair conditions.

Mama (Bessie's first born) had a colorful little calf yesterday! I don't remember if I posted pics of her last calf by Big Sexy, my hereford bull, or not. It was a bull calf and the neighbor kept him for quite some time. Long story, but he bred his mother. As well as his half sister! His half sister is the one the neighbor raised on a bottle. She should be along anytime with a calf as well. But for now.....
Having issues with pics

Dapples be along soon! This heifer was lil over an hour away. I'll not name names, but I'll say I love this forum. Great big ol heifer calf. Got her home and I'll bottle her a while. She's been on a bottle for over a week already.
