Cows are coming home to the hay fields noww so trying to make better use of of the re growth. Alfalfa is over knee high in places. Put up over 1.5 miles of electric rope to manage it. I might just turn them loose into a bigger area once this field is finished as I have the bales off more fields now.

They come home on their own. Usually too early and the fight is to keep them out of the fields. Bulls on the other hand can be problematic as the older they get the more likely they are to hole up somewhere far away and hard to find.

The cowboys will start moving cows down in a couple weeks. Mostly to stage them to pull the calves in a month. But the majority of the cows stay out until the great white cowboys shows to chase them out of the hills. A couple years ago B got a call while at the super bowl party (early February). Someone had been up in the hills on a snowmobile and ran into a bunch of his cows. They went up the next day with a snowmobile and 2 quads chained up on all four. They got the cows down. He referred to them as the Donner party. They went into a separate pen where they got fed extra. I know a month or two later he told me he as happy that 7 out of the 9 had calved. He was calling it a win.
