Anyone have any doing with a tractor like this. Ford 7740 power star SLE. 4x4 with. No buckets. Lots of suitcase weights. 12x12 trans about 3500 hours. Good tractor bad tractor what units worth. What goes bad first. Thanks. I found one looking to buy but get sugggestions. I know I need a bucket. Find me ine

I thought the SLE's came with the 16x16 trans standard.

Either way they were pretty good old workhorses in their day. Having said that it's at least 30 years old so wiring is old and brittle and can cause some issues often with the PTO module circuit.

If you want a tractor with a loader it is usually best to buy already setup that way unless your a handy fabricator. Finding a loader with brackets for that tractor might not be super easy and buying new is very costly.

I just checked. I think 16x16 is correct. What is it worth?
 
The SLE have the most electronic on it. I have a 5640 SL 4×4 with a cab. The SLE are known for electrical problems. Being an open station, it would be easier to get the wiring. Kinda of a gamble. Parts are still available. I have had my share of electronic problems, some relays bypassed, some bypassed wiring. I hope you are mechanically inclined.
