We are out of town at a horse show and just got word that my 2005 cow had a heifer calf out of Saugtahachee I know I spelled it wrong but pretty stoked. I have been trying for a heifer out of that bull for over 20 years.

She should have some show heifer potential and add some "look" to her progeny. Her dam ought to put enough power into her to make a really nice cow.

He was a very popular sire in the show ring back in the late 90's to early 2000's. One of my very first registered cows was a daughter. She was one of the the nastiest cows I have ever owned. You better not accidentally walk between her and her calf, even when the calf was already 4 or 5 months old and the two of them were more than 30 feet apart. I found that out the hard way. At least she did not hunt you down. Once she knocked you over she would just run off with the calf.

We had a Saugahatchee daughter born 2018. She was out of a big cow and followed her dam's frame size and was way too big herself. She had two calves and came in open. I got a long well with her and she had her dam's easy going attitude. Have heard they can have an EXT attitude though. Her first daughter is a 2000 model cow that is very average looking, but her calves have eye appeal and performance. She is a calf raising machine.

Our son Jacob was showing late 90’s the Leachman Saugahatchee 3000C heifers were dominating the show ring. I bred a bunch of cows trying to get Jacob a show heifer but all I could make were bulls. I have heard attitude could be an issue the 2005 cow is a sweetheart but she is also a Charlo daughter so the calf has the potential of being really good and a nut case but hopefully she will be nice. For now I’m going to be excited that I finally have a heifer. I have two more confirmed safe to Saugahatchee so hopefully get more heifers for Ella to choose from as a show heifer.

Got home this afternoon from the horse show we were all tired especially Abe (the horse) and got to see the heifer she weighed 61 pounds didn’t get to spend much time looking it was getting late and still had two pastures to check. Time will tell one of the other cows that is bred to the 3000 bull looks like she should have a calf by morning. Had another old cow in labor and two new babies since this morning. Another of Jacob’s 6 calved we now have two really nice In God We Trust heifer calves on the ground so two of his six bred to make Ella and Sydney show steers are heifers

Abe is a quarter horse both our twin granddaughters show. Sydney shows Abe aka Mann of my Dreams in western pleasure. Ella shows Banjo aka Banjos Lemon Twist and Alpine aka Swingin Chandelier in Ranch Riding. The Boss and i haul them to the shows and mom and dad come after work on Friday. We are having a big time with the girls. We were in Mississippi and it got chilly (spoiled horses for sure lol)
For 10 years, I had any where from 2 to 4 granddaughters showing at the same time. I spent every weekend as a horse transporter, a groom, trainer, a riding coach...rarely getting to ride any myself. And I wouldn't trade one minute of that for anything in the world! I am sure you and The Boss feel the same way :)

Absolutely I know we only have a window of time before the girls are grown and gone we are cherishing every minute. Sounds like we have the same job description you had. I don’t ride anymore anyway but I’m a great stall mucker and groom, when the girls allow it. They try to keep ole GG from doing much but I sneak in and do some stuff. Had another 3000C calf today a bull dang it. We have one more so sure hope it’s a heifer, Ella told me today that at least we have one lol she is pretty stoked about trying to make show heifers. Next week is our county fair only one of the girls will be showing this year. Sydney’s calf managed Ti stifle himself so she is out of competition this year. Ella will show her market steer a prospect steer and a heifer.

This is a heifer calf that may end up on E’s show string. Jacob bred 6 cows to club calf sores trying to make E a steer so far we have two heifers lol
