I see more wear on the sledge frame from guys who bale hilly ground.

My old NH baler has close to 20k bales thru it and the sledge frame doesn't show any wear.

My "new" baler came from steep hill country and at 4k bales I welded up the groove and ground it smooth.

Not my fail, but my job to fix.. I don't believe the guys story on how he ripped the piston right off the cylinder rod... I think he was doing 20mph in reverse and hit a rock or stump.. only way you get enough pull on there to do that (and break the pivot ball retainer as well)

That's what burned my forwarder. Leaves, sticks, mulch, saturated in oil. Once it got into that there was no stopping it.

Now I'm meticulous about dropping belly pans and cleaning debris out. Leaf blower and steam cleaner are my best friends.

Not exactly broken. But thought I should pull the stump pans off the dozer the other day. Apparently long overdue. I had a fire on the old girl awhile back and if it had got into this it would have been game over.

Someone had replaced a bolt on the pan on mine with a longer bolt before I got it and when I started it one day it wouldn't bring up oil pressure, I shut it down and no oil. I was guilty of not checking the oil but I was working on it and had the dash apart and wanted to just check on a new hour meter I had installed. I was lucky and got away with it. The longer bolt had worked its way through the cast iron sump.
I too have had a fire in the engine from a split tube to the fuel pressure gauge. Lucky I was near a lot of loose sand to throw over it.
