Show me your idea of the perfect cow

Really liking this one. First photo just calved, second at almost one month after calving. Went back in heat at exactly one month after calving. Fingers crossed she held. Held on first service for both first calves. Unfortunatelly had aborted her second and then had issues getting back in calf. Got her only after synch, but she seems to be back to business again. Plenty of milk, great character, good calver and fertility should be back again.

Her first calf is left as replacement and will be AI'ed soon.

My Hereford cow and her calf look similar to yours. My neighbor's Highland bull bred Rosa when she was just 9 months. Her pregnancy and delivery were uneventful. I was worried and lucky. Keeping the calf and her together until the calf is weaned. Then I need to get Baby to a place where her daddy can't get to her. This was my first calving experience.

Just curious as to what you have ensiled in the background?
 
When I saw this photo, I loved it and thought what a perfect pair. Now I have a similar pair. Today Mama is 27 months old, and her calf is 18 months old. I am considering taking in 2 Highland for the winter. They are 18 months old; a bull and a heifer. I expect the bull will breed all 3 females. Please advise based on your experience of combining Highland with a polled Hereford and a polled Hereford/Highland mix in the same pasture and barn. Thanks in advance.

Actually, my cow got bred at 9 mos because my neighbor's bull broke out of his yard and paid a visit. Maybe the auction house cited her age incorrectly. My question is: will it work out to keep polled and horned cattle together? Thanks!

Mama had a calf at 9 months old?!!! So she got bred when she was a day old?!!!

27 (cow) from 18 (calf) is 9 months... and last I heard it would take a heifer getting pregnant 9 months, average, before giving birth. So your numbers are off unless you're saying your cow was bred at birth or within a week of birth.

But now you say the cow is 27 months old and was bred at 9 months... but the calf is 18 months old? So does that mean the calf was 9 months premature?

Maybe your calf is 8 months and you dropped a 1 in front by mistake?
