I think we are in the clear. Sun is about to break through. Stopped drizzling. 8/10ths since about 9 am. That should freshen up the grass a bit. Winds are still about 18-23mph.

Ah…sweet summer rain…been raining since about 7:00am…not expecting the stronger winds until 6 or 7 this evening…I think…going stir crazy sitting at the house on a day off and getting nothing done in the pastures but not complaining…after all, this is a good rain…in July…I’ll take it

Got official offer from school district job this AM…will be sending in my 2 weeks notice to the state parks tomorrow…parole finally came through…er…I mean retirement…this will be me at the end of the day on July 27:

Congrats!!!

Congrats!!!
Just in time for either the grass to take off from all this rain or dry conditions to make it go dormant…lol…the life of a groundskeeper in east Texas

Still, it’s good to see this slow soaker landing on the pastures…just wish the guy would have had the chicken litter and lime spread…he’s having trouble getting both at the moment. But I’ll take this over the Noachian floods we had this spring. A little worried about the potential for high winds later today and the potential for tornadoes but let the good Lord do what He will. It’s all good.

Southeastern Oklahoma, parts of Arkansas, and southern Missouri will probably get some rains off of this…don’t know about the wind…I heard it has been downgraded to a tropical storm (don’t know it that’s true)…the eye is about to pass over Bay City. Seeing stronger winds up here and still raining. Electricity blinking off and on. Hangin’ tough and still loving seeing rains on the pastures in July…last summer was just brutal…I think I would rather deal with this than deal with what we had in July- August last year.

It's about to move out of here…winds gusting from time to time but not as bad. Anybody north or east, watch for tornadoes…several watches north and east of us - most are moving NNW. Another is north and west - Longview area. I-20 between Carthage and Longview is right in the path of most rotations. The skies are angry in those areas. Stay safe, y'all. @Caustic Burno - pretty much over with down there? I’m guessing @Chevroid down in Lufkin has pretty much seen the last of it.

In Angelina county we got 3 1/2". Had gotten 3" before today but in the last week. Never seen so much mud in July! A nice problem! Some wind but no tornado damage here.

Yeah I didn’t have any structure or fence damage. Mainly stressed trees down in pastures and on the road. On the generator for who knows how long.
After I got my stuff checked I was riding the county roads for the Commisioner. We only have four workers in our precinct we clear the roads where everyone can.
In Rita it took eight of us with dozers, tractors a day to cut out two miles to the highway.
Just life here if we didn’t clear it we would be cut off from emergency services.
