New Brahman Heifer

I’ve started working with the oldest of my brahman embryo heifers to get her gentled down and eventually halter broke. I took a couple photos while I was hanging out with her the other day and figured I would share them. She is about 2 months old and there’s three more a month younger than she is and I’m extremely excited about the group.

The recip cow I used was one of my favorite crossbred commercial cows. The other 3 recips don't even have any ear, they make for some interesting pairings as I drive by and look out there (Hopefully I understood your dam raised question correctly). I've got 7 more embryos from the flush to put in so hopefully there's a nice little group of these ladies out there by this time next year.

Yeah. I bet that's neat seeing those brahma babies on non eared cows. Pretty dang kool.
 
I would be pretty dang excited if I were you! Very nice looking heifer. Someday I want to have a nice Brahman bull for my angus and Herefords. This is once I get more land and cattle (I can’t justify a bull for only 5 head). What’s your favorite quality about the Brahmans?

These are my first few members of the brahman herd I'm building so I am sure I have a lot to learn about them but the longevity, heat tolerance for my part of the world, and extra personality are all appealing. I know raising brahmans has it's own unique set of challenges but I'm looking forward to that. I also like that down here there is always a pretty robust market for brahman and brahman cross replacements. I'd like to get a good hereford bull as a cleanup for them so I can make some tiger stripes from time to time as well.

I’m a Brimmer man.
 
What is stand out to me is she seems pretty relaxed for being singled out. That is a big deal in itself besides her flashy look.

I always wondered how mellow a calf like that would be if not raised in the environment with a bunch of other Brahmans. When I wean Brahman heifers I always mix them with the crossbred heifers. I always joke that I want to raise them like a Hereford, not like a Brahman.
