Have done a couple of those dead calf out the side deals. IIRC, two live cows and one dead.
Thankfully, we can’t kill them all.

I suspect your definition of 'helicopter stories' and mine are completely different.
same type of vehicle and from your picture, a similar "rescue" attempt.
Some "cousins" that ranch a few hours west of me, in more remote and rougher country, used to gather using helicopters and ultralights for spotting and flushing critters off the mountains and out of the brush. They had all their own equipment and most of them were ex military pilots. A few were/are actually good cowboys.
One day a couple of the guys were horseback someplace miles from a road and came across a cow having trouble. They spend a couple hours trying to pull her calf and couldn't make any progress, so they got the brilliant idea to call for help. Lets just say using a helicopter is not quite the right angle. You generally want to pull down towards the ground.
I don't know if this is actually a true story but knowing them, it likely is. Poor old cow.
