    well I will definitely look into loose minerals. we took her to the vet today and got her a shot of bose. he said it may or may not help. i guess she was a little earlier than we thought. she still can't get up on her own, but we are giving her lots of exercise and she eats very good. Vet...

    Vet says take a wait and see attitude since she seems fine and has stopped bleeding and discharge. will let you know how things turn out.

    Yes it was coming from inside. It was very long and stringy, more like discharge. Waiting for the vet to call back. Though she seems to have stopped--nothing for 5 days and she seems to be just fine now. Due any day.

    Glover, Yes, she pees ever time we stand her up to nurse, didn't time her, but it seems like for ever. What are you doing for your calf, to get it on its feet.

    Thanks Alice for your input. It makes me feel like we are doing what needs to be done. I will ask the vet about Bose. I am assuming that would be for selenium defiency? and maybe thats why she is weak. But I thought they would get all the selenium they need from the mineral blocks. Again...

    Is it normal for a heifer to bleed off and on before giving birth? she is due anytime from now to the next two weeks. She seems fine but has been bleeding every couple of days for the past 2 weeks. She is not one of our more friendly heiffers. Does this men we need to expect an abnormal birth?

    We are fairly new to this. We had a calf born on Feb 5. She is 12 days old now and still can't get up on her own. We stand her up and she can stand alone for awhile and she walks and even runs, but only if you hold her tail for balance. We fed her colostrum and now milk replacer and she also...
