    Virgin bulls

I've bought both. Our first "calving ease" polled Hereford we bought was a long yearling virgin. He ended up being 2300 lbs, way too big and his calves were huge. Our current bull was a non virgin with semen and trich test behind him, was almost 3 and 1700 lbs when we bought him and he hasn't...

    Question about selling bulls, advice?

I'm thinking about offering both of our registered polled Hereford bulls for sale. Darth is 6-1/2 (herd sire) and Thor is 1 (virgin bull)(Darth's son). Do I need to have them semen and trich tested before I offer them for sale, or do I wait until I have a buyer? I would appreciate any advice...

    Feeding Hay

Haven't fed hay yet this year but opened up our stockpiled fescue field last week, was not planning on having to do that until we were done with Fall calving. Ended up with 9 bales leftover last Spring, hope we have enough for this year but we're also lucky because my father in laws pearl millet...

    Veterinarian relationship.

We're blessed, two large animal vets within 20 minutes. I have a good relationship with one and can just call up and ask for whatever I need (and have even had consults over Facebook messenger).

    stock trailers

We bought a 24' Barrett (Stoughton) aluminum trailer a couple years ago. It's heavy built, I think they use the same fittings as on their semi trailers, and I like that it has grease zerks on the hinges. It was a tough bite to buy the aluminum over steel but we won't ever have to buy another.

Mineral Supplement Tub For Extreme Summer Heat

Vitalix and MLS tubs are less soft than Purina, even in our Missouri summer heat. That said, I don't use them for heat stress, just free choice mineral, water, and shade trees.

    Deal or no deal?

I'd take a trailer load of cows like her for $450 each. Good deal.

    Non electric high tensile... Electrified?!

Yep, this pasture runs along the road right under the power lines. Thanks for the responses everyone. Appreciate it.

    Non electric high tensile... Electrified?!

Sorry, 6.8 kV's. Bull stays in just fine with that amount. High tensile is hand tied around the posts, the electric is run through ceramic insulators nailed to the posts and poly insulators screwed into the posts (inside corners).

    Non electric high tensile... Electrified?!

I have two of those, a Gallagher and a Speedrite. Neither show a fault.

    Non electric high tensile... Electrified?!

We have high tensile fence around our bull pasture (see my other recent post), barb on top and bottom, with two lines of electric fence inside to keep them contained. The electric fence runs around 6.8 volts on each line. I was checking it today and reached through to check a line on the other...

    Replacement Bull Prospect

Dam is from Abrakadabra out of Columbia, MO, that's where the Mr. Hereford and P606 comes from. Grand dam is P606 daughter.

    Replacement Bull Prospect

Darth is only around 1700#. He's a grass puppy, was a show bull and will follow you anywhere for a handful of range cubes.

    Replacement Bull Prospect

This is one of our homegrown bull calves. He has P606, Mr. Hereford, and Federal bloodlines, so he's going to have a high CE and be good on heifers (his sire's CE is +7.3). I like his markings and I think he has potential, but looking for opinions. Thanks. Thor is just over 9 months old. 6...
