I had a prime heifer, a keeper, do this and got her leg hung up in the tight corner of the bars on a feeder at the bottom, identical to that one and broke her leg. I mentioned it locally and there had been several locals have the same happen. I trashed that ring and use only straight bar type...

    Breed what you love

I also have sold bull calves as herd sires and I get a lot of great feedback. I know mine are not registered, or even a “breed” but I sometimes get outstanding bull calves and I have my vet do a thorough breeding exam before I’ll sell as a bull. They are slower to mature but they are breeding...

    Breed what you love

Lol. I love the conversation going on here and the cattle posted. Lots of reasons to love a particular type. My goals have panned out beautifully. Even those in my area that were strictly for commercial or purebred breeders have seen the benefits I’ve been breeding for. The ultimate goal...

    Breed what you love

That has never been a problem with the low volume I raise. I currently have more people wanting calves than I can keep up with lol. My calves bring half again as much as the ones that sell at the local sale barns

    Breed what you love

My area isn’t known for Nos Indicutype cattle but I absolutely love them. I love the temperament, the “look”, the way they cross so well with my other favorite breeds. My Gyr cross calves 2019

mI know some breeders that take the Gyr calves to bottle feed and even send them to petting zoos to make them dog gentle but I don’t do that, I let my cows raise them and I don’t interfere. Mine are So calm and easy to gentle but I know some lines, or individuals have a rogue temperament...

    My Gyr cross calves 2019

I prefer Gyr ( or in my case, I believe mine have a little Indo Brasil in them ) over Brahman. If no other reason, the temperament and I feel like the crosses are better as well.

    Photographing your Showstock

How many use a professional photographer for you show cattle? How many take their own photos? There are always photographers at shows but when you’re wanting to show off your best, or create a flyer or business cards etc, do most of you take your own photos?
