That’s how I’ve grown in the past, which is definitely a faster turn around but my cost to keep heifers doesn’t cost me much of anything honestly minus whatever the cost I could sell the heifer at the sale barn. If I was buying heifers it definitely doesn’t make sense vs buying a bred cow

Mostly related to the fact I like my brangus/hereford calves and they are extremely hard to find around me without paying a steep premium. Though I would gladly buy more decent brangus bred cows for the right price.

NE Texas I just paid $46/ton for lime to be hauled in and spread. Cost as skyrocketed around here as no one wants to do it anymore

Bought them and recently resold 8 of them as light bred to my Hereford. 1 didn’t breed but it happens. They were a little flighty for me to keep

I’d most likely sell all calves at least for now. To small to really justify keeping replacements myself, these are a little small to breed immediately but keeping separate a few months is no issue. Don’t really want to change bulls, he’s throwing solid calves and works well with my current cows...
