Totally agree, if you wanted to be absolutely sure you could just give them a shot of Lutalyse. As long as you keep em away from a bull from the time you shoot em to the time you're ready to breed, you should be good to go.
They're both out of LaGrand Reload 80P and one of our Stocker daughters. You can see their full pedigrees at http://www.paintedwolfranch.com/herefords/29/. They're full brothers so they're both the same.
I've had a lot of luck with the Hereford on Angus cross as well. For your paper, google Hybrid Vigor and you'll see a lot of articles talking about the advantages of cross breeding. Ideally you want a three-way cross -- one of the ones I like is Hereford on Angus -- keep the heifers (they'll...
Lol, yep -- too true. As you've probably guessed these are both ET calves. I love seeing the pretty red and white calves on those big black cows -- lol.
The following are a couple of our new Polled Hereford bull calves. These videos were taken when the calves were about a week old or so.

I'm thinking the first one may end up being one of my show calves next year. What do you guys think?
Thank ya much -- Brandonm22. Poseidon's a nice bull, we actually sold him last week -- now just eight more to go -- lol. Also, have you used the King Ten bull? If so, does he throw calves with eye pigment?
I'm a registered and a commercial breeder so I agree with the folks who vote for AI/ET on the registered side -- it just makes more sense to AI to a proven breed leader than to buy a high-dollar herd bull and hope for the best. On the commercial side, weight is really the game. I'll buy a bull...
I really like WLB Global -- is he a polled or horned hereford? His registration number looks like he's horned, but I'm not sure. His birthweight isn't bad, but it isn't as low as some. My heifers already come with a fairly hefty birthweight (especially the Reload ones). Do you think he'd...
Did you mean TH 122 71I VICTOR 719T? I do like him. I just wish he had pigment on his eyes. If he had some pigment on either eye I think I'd probably go with him. Maybe I'm placing too much importance on this, but folks in my area sure seem to be looking for the pigment when they're buying...
Man, I thought we had it bad with coyotes -- lol. I have seen buzzards scavenge a dead calf but that's about all that I've seen from airborne predators in our area. I'm glad I don't have to worry about eagles here -- I'd probably end up getting myself arrested trying to protect my cows -- lol.
I have a really nice set of polled hereford heifers -- they're ET calves out of Reload and World Class. I'm trying to decide what to breed them to and have had a hard time finding a bull that just jumps out at me as the one I should use. I'm looking for a bull with low birthweight (of course)...
