? Rotaional Grazing, High Tensle, and Goats.

With rotational grazing you want to be able to keep them in a paddock for several days to a day or 2. To give you an idea on stocking rate, I run 25 mature cows on 2 AC paddocks and rotate every other day. A good rule of thumb for grass growth is 250lbs per inch per acre of dry matter. That's...

    Growing replacement beef heifers

They need to eat 2% of body weight a day in feed. If you're concerned about hay nutrition, suplement with good feed. 5lbs of corn will replace 9lbs of hay. so if your trying to grow 700 to 800 lbs heifers before breeding then they need to eat about 15lbs per day. I like soybean meal because its...

    grazing cattle in woods

There's not whole lot of grass besides sum short fine leaf grass. But there's lots of shrubs and foliage on saplings that they seem to like. I do plan in the near future to clear out the bottom section of the woods and I estimate that would be enough space for 5ac or so for grass.

I would like advice on how Yal would stock it, how the cattle would do on it and ect. It will be used in my...

    Mowing fescue pasture

You should go ahead and clip your fescue. By this time of year and as tall as you say it is it is Likly to stemmy to be palatable and its lost most of it nutrient value. If you clip it between 5 to 6in youl leave plenty of leaf area where it can collect sun and store nutrients in its roots. If...

    growing NWSG in mid south

Well I def don't want to throw my money away and I can't devote any 1 field to a single grass. So would Bermuda be my best wsg option in my fescue pastures or would another work better. I just need a good mix to help get my herd threw the summer forage slump, and hopefully get a nice summer...

    growing NWSG in mid south

I really don't have any other option but to plant them into my fescue pastures and hay fields. I don't have enough fields to have WSG in 1 and CSG in the other. Is there anything I can do to help them cohabitate with each other, such as plant them directly after first cutting of fescue in may so...
