    4 month old heifers bred?

I agree. I wouldn't even give it a second thought UNLESS I actually SAW a heifer calf in standing heat. That's a simple fix..either lute at weaning or draw blood and test. We've had a handful of heifers that young stand over the years. Out of hundreds of calves, we have never, ever had a...

    Age of herd bull

In our commercial herd we keep a bull until we have a better one to replace him with. Generally, if we like a bull enough to sell him private treaty and feel like we have enough daughters to let him go, we will move them when they are around 4-5. Any older than that and I feel like there's not...

Cows not coming back into heat.

Put a patch on them. That's the only way you can have any clue if they're cycling or not. Prostaglandin will cause them to come into heat if they are already cycling, and ONLY if they are already cycling. To cause a cow to cycle that is NOT cycling, you will have to use a CIDR.

    Worming on breed day

Parasites and flukes are terrible here. If we missed a deworming we would have serious problems. If I had to weigh the risks between MAYBE losing a pregnancy that hasn't even occurred yet, and missing a deworming...that's not even a hard choice. We would absolutely deworm.

    Beefmaster Bulls

FWIW, your pictures will look a LOT better if you take a 3/4 from behind instead of in front.

What Age To Take To Sale Barn

Sell when you are maximizing your profit. Simple as that. Could be heavy, could be light. That's when it pays to start sitting through the sale you plan on taking them to and checking their market reports.

    Injectable Wormers?

If yall have flukes and replaced Ivomec Plus or Valbazen with Longrange, that might be an issue since Longrange doesn't have a flukicide. We HAVE TO treat flukes twice a year, which makes it difficult to figure out where we would use something like Longrange. Have a bottle that's been sitting...

    Brangus AI bull

We don't have any daughters in production yet, but we have been using 607L11 and Final Cut a lot the last couple of years. L11 is a legend in the breed as far as making cows. Final Cut isn't the greatest in maternal calving ease, but most of the calves we have by him have been very growthy but...

What to look for when buying Brahman

The Brahman steers whipped the "Simms" and "Simbrahs" in the Houston carcass contest. About even with most other breeds. Champion carcass was an American. Average Prime and YG 2, sired by a Brangus bull. Brahman influenced cattle can grade.

    does this heifer look pregnant

I would guess with 90% certainty that she's open. No side, no flank, and no bag. Of course, the only sure way to know is to have her checked.

    liquid protein worth the expense?

We feed liquid for the energy much more so than the protein. That's the question I'd be asking; what is the % energy? We keep it out for growing replacement heifers, and pairs right before we put bulls out. Earlier depending on forage and body condition.

    When to place patches?

Yeah, I wouldn't think they pour-on would matter since you did it that long ago. A friend of ours cleans his with alcohol first...those patches stay on forever. We use the tacky cloth and it does a pretty good job on loose hair.
