I was to a mineral meeting this spring.(He was not a saleman.)
This guy was a nutristionist and he said cows do not know what they need. He said you have to make sure they get minerals for their immune system and reproduction system. In our
area we have to make sure we have a high seleium and...
I had a total of 12 bulls out with 290 cows.
2 3year old angus and 4 2 year old angus bulls and the
same amout of herefords and the same age as the angus.
I got only 15 angus calves out of the cows that calved with with the 12 bulls. We had 250 of the cows calf in the month
that there were 12...
Actually when I`ve sold the last 2 years I`ve they seperated
the blacks from the reds and I got the same for both and the reds are from hereford and hereford shorthorn cows. Never
kept a single black heifer, value my life.
If the Angus bulls are such good breeders, how come 2 years ago I Had 2 3yr old angus and hereford bulls and 4 2yr old
hereford and angus bulls out with 290 cows and got a total
of 30 angus calves and 15 of them came after I seperated them so there was only an angus bull with 30 cows?
I`ve used...

When you buy cattle from the sales barn, aren`t you worried
about bringing home disease? When we use to buy from the sales barn about 15 years ago, it`s taken till a couple of years ago
to finally get controll of things like BVD, Johnes, etc. with vaccinating.
I`m going to say I had one of the burger king angus beeg steak burgers and the one I had their was absalutly no
taste in the meat. The only taste was all the stuff they added
to the bun.
What Frankie wrote about CAB is right on the No.2 because
we need to buy more angus bulls because they seem to get hurt easier and become non breeders easier than other breeds.
My experience and some people I know have the same problem.
We don`t use the rings for weaning, we use them for heifers
that still suck on the cows after they were suppose to be weaned.
Like the next fall after they are bred and we bring them home and put with the cows again and they start sucking again. When we wean
we put all the calves in a pen and...
We use weaning rings. What they are is a bull ring with a crown
on one side. Only thing we do is put the crown towards there nose
instead of it facing up like the directions that way it pokes them and
if they figure out how to tip it up it will poke the one it`s trying to
suck on. I did it...
I do ours at a day old and I knife cut them because when I learned
to do it the vet told me the feedlots perfered it this way because
they know both are gone and they are less likely to rupture. He also
said when you do it in the first couple of days there easier to find
because the calf can`t...
