What I noticed here was the complete absence of birds at the feeders during the eclipse and for a short time afterwards. They weren't back in full force today either. The donkeys didn't notice anything, but not much distracts them their grazing anyway.

This is what I did last year: I had someone come to mow and bale all he could get off of the property, mostly round bales. He gave me some square bales for my three donkeys and he took all the rest of the hay. This worked out fine for me because he provided all the necessary fuel to do this...

They are sure making good use of that shade. I love your fence--"snake fence" is what we call it here. Do your cattle ever try to push it down?

Have you considered using a good Dexter bull on your heifers? They don't all carry a dwarfing gene and there are some polled ones available these days. (I can hear a lot of throat clearing in the background, LOL.) Don't dismiss the idea. Just do your homework and go with a reputable breeder.
