donkeys in North Mississippi...dogs killing my calves

My Grandpa said that there is only one solution to that problem. You kill the dogs. Talking to the owner never works, even if the owner is a relative or good friend.

Why did no one tell me?!...:)

Tractor supply got some jacked up prices

TSC price matches. I paid $9.99 for both sweet feed and cracked corn, which is what RK was selling it for. You have to ask for the match. There’s no RK here

    Coyotes

They are territorial. If you aren't having any trouble with your neighborhood coyotes, let them remain your neighborhood coyotes. Something else will fill the spot if you remove yours. It might be trouble If you shoot all you can find, those that remain have larger litters to keep the...

    Baling pastures?

I don’t understand the question. You have grass and wonder if you should bale it? Of course you should bale it. That’s like saying that you have a corn field and asking if it should be harvested. To pleasant pasture beef, looks great, string some fence and put some cattle out there.

    Blind calf

I have a 2021 spring heifer that had a broken back leg, probably stepped on? Vet splinted, still not great. I keep her by herself and she does great. She has been with some other heifers before they were cycling and she would soon be limping. Now with her cycling something would jump on her and...

    Steering wheel knobs?

We got a bunch for work at Rural King about 30 years ago. I had a torn rotator about that long ago. Everything was great from the elbow down. To open a big valve you climb up on the line it’s on so you don’t have to lift your arm. It was the right shoulder and I am right handed. Carrying...

How’s this look for $15 a acre lease

I sold 2 mostly black, polled 1/2 longhorn 1/2 SimAngus heifers a couple of years ago at Shelbyville. According to the report they put on line they brought top dollar for heifers in their weight class that day. Mine are filled out better than the ones in the pictures

What in the devil is the deal with egg and chicken prices these days?

It’s a bird disease that chickens can catch. It’s not primarily a chicken disease. Eagles and hawks can catch it from any diseased bird.

What in the devil is the deal with egg and chicken prices these days?

My free range chickens and ducks are healthy, but the wrong bird flies into the yard or poops while flying over, I’ll probably have to kill them all.

    Show me your herd!

What’s happening here? Are there 3 calves nursing that cow?

    Weaning weights

Around here the buyers would figure the horns into the price. X number with horns @ $1.18, X number polled @ $1.68, I will bid up to $1.45 for the group. Pulled the numbers out of my rear obviously. Were they mine I would prefer them to sell separate because I would be afraid that I would...

cant make money at this anymore

They pay $9 for the eggs because they are feeding the chickens. The cows are tame because they are on about a half acre with no grass and people are handing them food through the fence. I don’t have the people living around here to do it. I sell eggs for $2 per dozen. Evidently you don’t have...

cant make money at this anymore

I’m in Illinois and don’t have a feel for Florida, so I don’t know if this would work. My daughter lives on the East side of Florida, and there are a lot of people. There’s a guy with around 5 head on less than an acre. People pay him and he gives them food. They walk over and feed his cattle...
