    I'm from Virginia originally and was told by my wife who grew up on an amish farm that quilt patterns on barns there is part of the amish and Mennonite life style. Not sure if it's really a religious thing or more of a good luck charm.

    Early born calf

    Had another calf born today. This one is as big as the heifer born two weeks ago is now. This one is a black motley face don't know if it's a bull or heifer because it was up and nursing so I just watched from a distance. 3 on the ground 2 to go. So far so good.

    The cows came from a neighbor so I was able to walk out in pasture with them them before I bought them and know they will calm down.
