I know there have been other posts addressing diphtheria in calves and I've poured over those and their links and still am not sure what I'm dealing with. I've got Holstein bull calves, all under 3 months of age. We have one that has been coughing, rapid breathing .... but eats great (milk replacer and free choice calf starter). Thought it might be a pneumonia issue so hit him with NuFlor as well as vaccinated w/ TSV-2 (like Nasalgen). Still seems good except for the cough/breathing. AND - another calf now has a swelling on his lower jaw - no coughing yet. We've seen this swelling thing before and it's not an abcess so I wondered if it might be diphtheria. Anyone had something like this?

Given the two different issues (pneumonia symptoms on one and swelling on the jaw of the other), I'd get the vet out to look at the entire group in case you need to diagnose the onset of problems with all. I don't know if the two are related or not. You may have to isolate the sick ones.
