Where you hunt in Illinois? We , my sons and I , have 3 skull mounts /European mounts with those . 2 came from Illinois and 1 from Bama
Actually, the premaxillary bone appears to be normal in length, so no underbite. Anyone who thinks that underbite is that funny doesn't appear to care much about animals, including children.Did you check for the over bite or underbite?
A white-tailed deer with canine teeth is not at all common, but has been happening on occasion, likely since there were white-tailed deer, unlike underbite, which was only reported in 2 case studies of white-tailed deer prior to 1995. Nearly all male elk have canine teeth. Based on the photos, the deer did not have underbite or overbite.Woah! Neighbor got this buck a couple miles west of us. Evidently, there's something like a 0.08% chance of a deer with canines.

Why is that? Kansas is smack dab in the middle but we're located in the southern region, not far from OK.Actually the chance of a deer with canines is much higher in southern states than in northern states according to several studies.
Red deer have them also.I've seen 'ivories' (canines) in bull elk, but never noticed them in a WTD, but I don't often look in their mouth...may have just missed them.
