    Lick Wheel Liquid Feed

Isn't the real advantage to the tubs, just the shear fact that you don't have the time consumed in bringing them cake? Not sure but if you put a pencil to it I think it is cheaper to feed cubes(cake). I feed lick tanks, just because of the amount of time I have available and I can't get cake to...

    Leasing by the month

Not sure what the going rate for leasing is there, but take your going rate per acre (ex. $25 x 100= $2500) Divide $2500 by 12 ($208.33) should get you a reasonable starting point I guess.

    First Time Weaning

It is in my opinion that if you have the grass and are able to wean them than by all means that is what works for me. As some of the others have said just make sure you tell the salebarn what you have given(shots etc). Also, and it is just a thought, generally speaking prices are a little off...

    Heifer Bred Too Young

I have seen this on several occassion and yes there are some down sides to a young heifer being an oops, but in most of our experiences here if she can have the calf fine they generally turn into pretty good cows. Why, if she is cycling that early it can only turn into a postitve, for we put a...

    Ticks

Yep! definitely one or two voices in there. I guess it is all this cattle raising, ticks and chiggers in God's country!

    Ticks

Tick: Look here we have us some new blood! Flatlander! Cross: Lord what have I gotten myself into! Gods Country Folk: (aka Northeast Oklahoma Ranchers) I guess he is better than a city person! Tick: We'll see how tough he is! Gods Country Folks: Wait till the chiggers get him!

Any issues if heifer doesn't breed back?

The greatest detriment to a viable and profitable herd? Attachment!

Mayes Co Oklahoma ( shot in the dark)

Like I said before do to the fact that it is an easy commute a lot of the old farm land that had been in production has been sold off in smaller lots and that has driven the price up considerably. And most of the lease ground is either spoken for or many establish farms have swept in and taken...

Mayes Co Oklahoma ( shot in the dark)

Are you looking for leased ground or Purchasing ground. The problem with most of Mayes County as far as land prices is that it is an easy commute to the Tulsa area. Therefore it equals higher prices people are willing to pay.

    Cow/Calf Operation

This happens every once in a while when prices of cattle get high and everybody and their brother thinks its an easy way to make money. Around here we call them fly-by-niter cow companies. My advice is to find you a good investment guy (since you are a corporate man you should know someone) and...

    Young heifer bred

We have had this happen on occasion and I look at it like this. IF she has the calf with no problems at least for us they make pretty good cows.

    Mixing own corn with ?

Why not mix it in with the feed you already buy? Stretch it out so to speak, I assume that it already has enough protein 14%(?).

    Babies having babies

If you know she is out of a good cow and she bred early, it is often times good to keep. We have had these things happen before and if they have the calf, good utters, and were good mamas she will more and likely be an early breeder. Which in the long run will be a more productive cow.
