My borther didn't. He's dead. My daughter might. It is beyond my control. There are others on this forum with dead siblings. </p><p></p><p>Many of my HS peers are dead. </p><p></p><p>I heard it all from my own bro. </p><p></p><p>Maybe you want to leave it to chance. She's teaching math to other inmates such that these single moms can pass a GED when they get out. She has won "teacher of the month" and other such things. There's a lot of positives right now. The girl that escaped was coached by her family to plead guilty to a sentence that major criminals did not get in that day. I was listening to the radio today I believe it was gleen beck and heard the ones that are going to go pick her up from michigan say the sentence was out of line for that era especialy since she pled guilty.</p><p></p><p>You ever seen the movie brubaker about the ark- prison. Well I have been there with a chaplain friend first hand to minister. In 1984 it was still regarded as the most hostile prison in the us even after the movie and alledged clean up. They would still beat inmates for sass, droopy drawers and struting. Anyone doing these things was paid a visit in the middle of the night. They still raise their own food. The warden trains the dogs with volunteer inmates. THE inmate is given a lengthy head start to get off the prison grounds if they make it off the prison grounds wit out thedogs catching them they are a free man. To this day no one has beat the dogs. I believe the compound is 12,000 acres. </p><p></p><p>Then lets talk about what happens to the women incarcerated. From 18 to 80 they are preyed on by both the male guards and female guards. I know this first hand HAD A SISTER INCARCERATED AT 23 YEARS OLD. Drugs are cheaper for those incarcerated than people on the street. Putting people in jail is no longer about rehabilitation its about money. You ever hear of a company called corrections corp of america. It was started by Lamar Alexander and his cronies they get paid 40 grand a year per inmate. Big Bussiness. America has a bigger percentage of its people incarcerated than any other country in the world. Next time you go visit your daughter ask to see a copy of the institutions mission statement. I bet you wont find the words rehabilitation any where in their mission statement. Rehabilitation was removed from the prisons over 30 years ago. Closest thing you will see to rhabilitation now is a prison boot camp. In my opinion they should be sent there first and be given a opportunity to serve in our armed forces. If they refuse they should do day for day of their sentence no parole or probation no tvs recreation or anything. 50 years ago it was common for a judge to give one in trouble the choice of jail or service to their country. If they messed up they had their sentence invoked. This would sure save a lot of money today.
