[QUOTE="randiliana, post: 272738, member: 2308"] Well we have had a busy last couple days. Wednesday, we gathered and hauled all the cattle from our pasture that is 2 hours away. There were 85 pairs and 8 yearling heifers up there. Took 2 tandem and 1 tri axle semis. But everything went well, we got there at 10:30 and had them gathered and loaded by 1:30 and home by 4:00. Today we weighed and sorted all the calves that we own, (left our lease calves alone). They were sorted into the "sell" group and the "keep" group. We had decided beforehand, for the most part, which heifers would be kept and sold. Of course once we got them on the scale there were a few that didn't quite make the cut, and a couple that surprised us. These were mostly our middle of the road cows, and the numbers should go up when we get around to the rest of the herd (about another 50 head) Anyways, our ADG's were: Heifers - 2.30 lbs/day with a high of 3.04 lbs/day. Steers - 2.36 lbs/day with a high of 2.85 lbs/day. With an actual weight average of: 485 on the heifers and 503 on the steers. The calves are in the 5-6 month range at the moment. AND, we had 2 cows that were well above the average, one weaned off 1375 lbs and the other 1265 lbs, with ADG's respectively of 6.33 amd 6.08!!! Those 2 are worth their weight in gold ;-) They were the milk cows, each one raised 3 calves, the old girl averaging 458 lbs on hers (2.11 ADG) and averaging 421 on the 2 year old (2.03 adg).
