We have a new 4H heifer coming today and have seriously split opinions. Our current girls are a year and only get tied while working. They stand fine for show but have never had to use a standing / Tie stall before. Our new show girl coming in is about 6 months old and has never been tied for more than a short while. The breeder was kind enough to pull her from the you youngster pen and tie her a few times for us. My question is this, Should we let her free roam in a half size stall for a while to get used to us and just hanging out, or should we immediately get her tied up? We turn out each day from 6 am to sundown, but she won't be ready to turn out for a week or two when I can fence train her. Thanks for any help / guidance!
