Sorry about losing the cane Ron. I do something similar I use a plastic clothes peg to hold the bucket up and like Regolith I use a pair of small haemostats to grab the straw so no heat transfer from fingers to other straws. I guess I am pretty superstitious I have a heavy rubber band I put over the glove around my upper arm to keep my fingers well down into the glove. If I happen to misplace that particular band and have to use another my confidence goes right down. I never record the insemination until it is successfully completed, I have to have my favourite old cap on and must have my glasses on during the whole process plus a few other little idiosyncrasies for a successful insemination. I was brought down to earth the other day when I went down to my friends place with my tank as I had semen for him and he was getting a fellow to inseminate a couple of his cows. This fellow is very experienced and has good success but I was amazed at how basic he was. He just had an old rag to wipe the cow, pulled the semen straight out with his fingers, wiped the frost off with his fingers, no thawing straight into the gun and into the cow. It will be interesting to see the results, probably better than mine. Ken
