[QUOTE="inyati13, post: 1179649, member: 17767"] TB, since I switched to Vitafirm Mineral I have seen a significant increase in consumption. I have not finalized my records but the initial comparison shows more consumption. The Vitafirm is more palatable. I have not eaten it myself :D but some of the characteristics are obvious. My previous mineral (which you evaluated and reported was of low quality) does not have the same consistency. It was like streambed sediment. Vitafirm is more like a fine grain feed. BTW: I think there is more attention to mineral than the article suggests. We had out KY Cattle Asso Field Day yesterday and one of the topics was minerals. It was presented by the University of Kentucky which has done a lot of work in this area. But I do agree with the author that while most people have the subject on their radar not many of us are doing the record keeping to know how to adapt to different conditions, etc. My cows are always in good condition but I notice some improvements that I cannot support with data. Such as, being content, less nervous acting, better coats, good breeding, good feet, etc. They look like that went up a level in overall health and that is saying something because my cows have always been healthy.
