Feeder heifers steady to 2.00 lower where </p><p>comparable sales were noted. Slaughter cows 4.00-5.00 lower. Limited test on </p><p>slaughter bulls. Trade and demand moderate to good. Although cooler </p><p>temperatures and minimal rainfall was recorded this week in the Panhandle, </p><p>pasture conditions continue to diminish and feed costs continue to rise. As a </p><p>result, producers have been forced to continue culling deeper into their herds. </p><p>This has caused slaughter cow numbers to increase by 26% compared to this time a </p><p>year ago in the southern regions according to the Livestock Marketing </p><p>Information Center. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 15 percent of the </p><p>offering, replacement cows less than 1 percent and feeders 84 percent. The </p><p>feeder supply included 61 percent steers, 1 percent bulls, and 38 percent </p><p>heifers.
