Well folks since this seems to be about personal freedom I willoffer a solution of another type. Why not enact these smoking bans and give private business owners the option to make their place of business an all smoking or no smoking establsihment. Then let the marketplace decide who stays in business. I for one could care less if people want to smoke. I just DO NOT want to suffer the consequences. I don't want to smell it, on my clothes or my hair. I for sure don't want to breath it. Mostly because the 20 yrs I did smoke along with 10yrs in the mines and agricultural dust and chemicals have combined to give me a mild case of COPD. So if someone smokes in my vicinity it not only inconveniences me but literally endangers my life, and I don't care who you are or how loud you want to bytch on this forum you DO NOT have the right to do that. So I say lets just solve the problem thru separation. If those of you who smoke want to do it then have your own places where it is not only legal but encouraged. I do not for a second minimize how addictive it is and how badly some people NEED to hang on to the habit. I had a client once who literally would smoke with her oxygen on, joking that if she blew up it would be quicker than dying from emphysema. So smoke all you want just don't try to force me to breath it or if possible smell you afterward. Before anyone gets to up set by that last remark consider this. I can suffer an asthma attack from someone sitting down next to me after they have gone outside and demnolished a cigarette in a couple minutes..............that's all I have to say
