We have 2 wells/well houses. One is concrete block structure. First, eliminate (preventive maintenance) the rodents. We use the pelleted "Hawk" brand bait along the edges of the wall/floor which takes care of problem. Also, be sure there are no openings between roof and walls where they can get in. We keep bait out 24/7/365. Second, at the same time you put out bait, remove all old insulation. Put new fiberglas insulation between rafters and then put the foil backed insulating board over rafters to "seal" any airspaces. Third, you may also want to put a small electric heater inside the well house, set to come on when temperature gets down to 35 or 40 deg. F. Good luck with you mouse/rat problem!
