[QUOTE="alabama, post: 381645, member: 2218"] Good morning: During the opening night of the SLE Rodeo in March, bull rider Lee Akin was seriously injured when the bull he was riding threw him and stepped on his head. He was in intensive care in Baptist Hospital for two months. The SLE and ACA along with the entire Montgomery community had an outpouring of response to the needs of Lee’s family who have been by his side during his hospital stay. In fact, an account was set up through Colonial Bank and the Alabama Cattlemen's Foundation to raise funds. Last Monday, Lee was airlifted to the University of Oklahoma Hospital in his home state for more treatment and therapy. He still has not responded much but has begun to recognize sounds and words. The trip to the Oklahoma hospital was extremely costly and we are working to raise funds to defray this cost as well as help the family on their move back closer home. A fund raiser has been scheduled for June 5th in Montgomery at the RSA Activity Center and that’s were we need your support and help. This fund raiser provides and chance to buy tickets at $100 each and the holder of the winning ticket from the draw-down with receive $10,000. Only 300 tickets have been printed and 55 have already been sold. Please help the Akin family by purchasing a ticket or two (or more) and selling several to your friends. Checks can be made out to the Alabama Cattlemen's Foundation. Alabama Cattlemen will receive a letter within the week with an envelope to mail your checks and we will then send you your tickets or if you prefer we can hold them for you and you can pick them up at the event. Each additional guest is $20. If you can attend the reception and draw down that would be great, but, you do not have present to win. Time is short on this effort to help support the Akin family. We greatly appreciate your help and support in this very worthy cause. The Akin family will be indebted to you for life for helping them in this difficult time. Billy Billy Powell William E.
