What would cause a positive charge (.5kv) at my ground rods on my electric fence? This spring when the ground was wet l had 9kv. Now I am down to 2.7. My hot wire is not grounding out anywhere. The ground rods are 8 footers and are spaced about 10 feet apart. My box is a power wizard 1000 I think.

you have .5kv between your hot wire and ground rod?
It sure sounds like a short somewhere, or a defective box.. I have a Gallagher that makes a nice spark at the box but won't power a fence worth a darn.. your ground rods are good though!

How any ground rods? With 8' rods you may need 4-5. I see some fences that take up to 5 10' rods to get it down to 0. But as stated there is a short somewhere that's causing the feedback.
