I will grant you that it is not as big of an event as New Orleans. But the question is not how many die or the amount of devastation by the storm. The topic at hand is the attitude of those experiencing the catastrophe in their lives. In this area the comparison does hold weight. We are in the middle of this ice storm. My parents are looking at no electric for maybe weeks. Same with my sister. We have electricity but have the ice and cold as them. When you turn on the local news out of Joplin, they mentioned the scare of looting but the police officer being interviewed said it has not been a problem. When they interview people storming the motels, the interviews have been about how they are spending time with families playing games and just trying to stay warm. No one is whining about were FEMA is with Generators or money cards to pay the extra expenses the storm is causing people. To deny the character difference of people in the Bible Belt or Midwest against those looting low lives from New Orleans in a non starting in my opinion. We can not make the New Orleans low lives better people by downgrading the upstanding people of the Midwest. Even with out a storms, statistics and common sense shows the difference between New Orleans and the Midwest. All the storms do is magnify the differences and put it in the public eye.
