Today friday march 2nd the CFIA has removed a small feedlot from the quarentine list, it is reported the 7000 head feedlot had all the supplement it purchased that was suspected to contain bone and blood meal. None of the questionable supplement had been fed. And that is the reason for removal from the list of the feedlot. They are looking at removing 2 other farms from the quarentine today as well. So now the number of quarentine animals is about 1000 animals and will probably drop in the coming days as they investigation goes forward. When the investigation is over any animals exposed are expected to be destoyed as a safety precaution. Too bad in the US only fines are applied to violations. This incedent proves the dedication of the CFIA and cattle producers in canada to eliminate the bse situation. It is reassuring to see the speed that this has occured and that the questioned feed hasn't even had time to make it to the animals on farm.
